Westland Elementary School
August 21, 2025
Westland Elementary is beginning the process of selecting additional members for the 2025-26 School Community Council. According to Jordan School District Policy, each school in Jordan District is to have a School Community Council whose function is to:
-
Build consistent and effective communication between parents, teachers, and administration.
-
Make decisions that will affect allocation of funds, implementation of school improvement plans, and enhance academic excellence at school.
-
Provide a forum for community discussion of school-related concerns, encouraging citizens to express their views about educational issues and problems (e.g. curriculum, activities, transportation, student safety, etc.).
-
The School Community Council (SCC) is directed to meet at least four times during the school year.
Meetings will be determined by the Council, but typically are scheduled in October, November, February, and April. Community members are eligible to be part of the SCC as long as they have a child attending the school when their two-year term begins. Even if you do not want to serve on the Council, you are invited to attend meetings if you are interested in any posted agenda items. SCC agendas will be posted at the school and on our website one week prior to each meeting.
If you are interested in serving on the Council, please email ann.pessetto@jordandistrict.org by Friday, September 12th. If elections are necessary, they will be held during the week of September 15th - September 19th.
