Flex Friday Information...

Flex Friday is new this year in Jordan District.  Each week teachers will assign a meaningful learning activity to students to complete on Fridays.  Some activities will be completed at home, some will involve virtual meets with the teacher, and some students will be invited to come to school on Friday to work with their teacher in small groups.  The goal of these groups will vary depending on student need, but most often will focus on:  reviewing important concepts, reteaching and reassessing essential learning goals, or extending the learning of students who have already mastered learning goals.
Your student's teacher will notify you by Tuesday of each week if your student will be attending an in-person learning session.  Typically, these sessions will be from 10:00 to 11:00 or from 11:00 to 12:00, but teachers will provide you with specific information each week.  Teachers will also notify you about Friday at-home learning activities.
Any Westland student can get a grab-and-go lunch in the cafeteria each Friday beginning at 11:00.  A breakfast for the following day will also be available. There is no charge for these meals through the remainder of the 2020-21 school year or as long as funding lasts.
We look forward to the learning opportunities this new flexible schedule will make possible.  As always, if you have any questions, contact your student's teacher, or call the office at 801-565-7508.
